The Cupboard Under the Stairs is a blog about the struggles to use art in a useful way. The name of the blog is because the cupboard under the stairs is where most of the painting and sketches end up - in my case there is also under the bed, tucked in books, in the loft, an old box on which the telly sits and countless draws and shelves. Its getting silly. So this is a new space to encourage me the keep moving forwards.

The next thing :os
The next thing that I shouldn't have already started.
Someone really should slap me round the back of the head (please don't though). I keep losing faith in the projects I start and start new ones only to lose faith in them. Between my counting book and this idea I have started two other books, planned another book and re-visited a book I made but rejected :o(
What a mess.
These are two sketches of the next idea. It should be simple book and therefore shouldn't take too long, but this is not the case. I keep thinking it's too easy and that I should do more with it ahhhh!!!
Anyway hopefully putting these sketches on here will work as a little promise to myself make the thing.
Late Halloween ;o)
Happy Halloween (belated)
It was great this year because Lily was old enough to be excited about it. We fed trick or treaters and I even dressed her up in a little second hand witchy dress and hat - next year I'll make the costume.
I am creating a book at the moment which is simply a counting book, but it has been driving me made as I just want a white background and whenever I scan the paper comes out weird. I am also doing at least two other books becoz I keep getting ideas, which means I never finish anything :o(
I am really thinking of doing a course I have always wanted to - it sounds stupid, but I'm a bit scared to :os what if it all goes wrong???
Anyway, thought I'd share a couple of pics. I did not enjoy drawing skeletons - it felt like science - they are in shoes becoz I didn't even want to attempt skeleton feet :os though I quite like skeletons in shoes, why not?
I hope you think they're ok. The toads are my favorites.
